Hey beautiful people! I’m here today to review Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in the shade “Black Honey”. This lipstick has made quite a debut over the years, and has been popular for quite some time, its cult following leading to an array of Black Honey products, such as a nail enamel, eyeshadow palette, and more! Check this out:
Crazy, right?? But I can’t say I am surprised. This is such a unique color, in such a unique formulation! It is definitely something that captures your attention, and you want to try it out! And of course, I did.
Clinique’s Almost Lipstick in Black Honey is $16.00, and sold at Sephora. Clinique describes it as “Not quite a gloss, and not quite a lipstick, this transparent formula merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create a look that’s all your own. Its sheer, emollient-rich formula glides on for easy layering.”
Clinique is spot on with their claims, this is a very sheer lipstick formula, which is why they call it an “almost lipstick”. It’s similar to the new Urban Decay Sheer Revolution line that just launched. The color is not going to apply creamy and pigmented, it’s going to be a slight wash of color when you first apply it, and of course you can apply more layers depending on your desired look.
The color in the tube looks like a very very dark berry color, and when swatched, it looks more berry and less dark. On the lips, though, it looks like a red-berry. (This will differ depending on your lip color as it will be a different shade on everybody)
Here’s a swatch of two layers on my NC30 skintone:
Here’s what it looks like on my lips, 2-3 layers:
Overall, I really like this lipstick! I think that it comes off more red on my lips because my lips are pretty red as it is, but I will have to try it with concealer on my lips or something, but don’t get me wrong- I still absolutely love it. It’s not ultra pigmented as I said, but I actually would rather all lipsticks be like this because it is SO moisturizing. Sure, there are pigmented lipsticks out there, but many of them settle into the fine lines in your lips- you can tell in the pictures above that it does not! It is so moisturizing and plumping on the lips. I love it and would recommend you swatch it or sanitize it and try it on your lips next time you’re at Sephora or a Clinique booth! 🙂
I hope you guys enjoyed this review! Request anything you’d like to see from me, and I will catch you tomorrow!
Love you guys! ❤
