Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation | Review & Photos

Hey beautiful people! I am back for another review and today we are talking about the cult favorite, much-raved about Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation! For such a long time, I have been searching for the perfect foundation. I went through L’oreal True Match, the Pro-Matte foundation, Revlon Colorstay, Garnier BB cream, and those all performed wonderfully, with the exception the color match was always a bit off (although that has nothing to do with the quality of product itself, which are all amazing!) and I realized that the drugstore carried so many pink toned foundations. Even my warm true match foundation from L’oreal seemed very orange/pink on my skin, and I just didn’t like it. I also felt that by the end of the day (with the exception of the L’oreal Pro-Matte) that my makeup had gotten smeared off or seemed patchy and didn’t hold up well.

So i went on the hung for the perfect foundation, and wasn’t afraid to pay a few extra bucks. I started with Tarte. I tried their Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour foundation and although I liked it and it wore very comfortably on my skin, I still felt a bit oily by the end of the day, while their claims are to be matte for 12 hours. So I continued on my hunt and decided to give the Estée Lauder Double Wear a go, since I had heard so many amazing things about it on Youtube, beauty blogs and from various makeup artists.

Before I get into my in-depth thoughts, let’s go over some of the product itself and its’ claims. The foundation retails for $37.00 and comes in a 1oz. bottle, and can be found at Sephora and Estée Lauder’s online store. it claims to be a 15-hour, flawless foundation that stays looking fresh and natural through heat, humidity and nonstop activity. It delivers flawless coverage, feels lightweight, is oil-free, has a buildable formula, and leaves your makeup looking as fresh as when you first applied it. it is also fragrance-free, non-acnegenic, and has been dermatologist tested. So that’s quite a bit of claims! Let’s see if it really held up to the test.

Here is what the packaging looks like:

In my opinion, this foundation stood up to every single one of those claims. Lightweight? Check. I couldn’t feel it on my skin! 15-hour? Check! I’ve worn this for nearly 15 hours and it looked as if I had just applied it, no joke. Flawless coverage? Check! I used my beauty blender to apply it and as a damp sponge, sometimes it lightens the coverage and sheers out the formula, so I went in with another layer over my problem areas (forehead, nose, chin) and “concealed” those areas, and it worked beautifully. I didn’t even have to go in with my NARS concealer like I normally do! I have long days taking care of my baby, running errands, driving to and from my mom’s, and any other activity that I do on a daily basis like cleaning the house, working, etc, and it stayed put and didn’t budge through any of that. Allergy season is also hitting me hard this year and I’ve been itching and rubbing my nose like nobody’s business, and there was barely any redness that peeked through!

My contour, blush and highlight applied flawlessly on top, and I did powder with MAC’s Blot Powder just to set my face after it was applied, but I only had to do that once. It lasted all day and didn’t oxidize or turn blotchy at all.

I honestly think this is the best foundation I have ever tried. This is the first high-end foundation I’ve tried, and I know that the drugstore does have some good foundations and BB creams, but this one blew all of those out of the water. I always told myself I wouldn’t have to splurge for a foundation, that the drugstore has such a great variety and don’t get me wrong, there are some great ones out there as I have mentioned before, but this one completely took my breath away.

If you’re debating whether or not to get this foundation, please go and try it. At the very least, ask for a sample in your shade next time you’re in Sephora. I promise you, it will change your life! I will never go back to any of my old foundations. I don’t care that it doesn’t come with a pump, or that it’s in a glass bottle and may break, I don’t care that it’s $37.00, I will pay it again when  I run out and I will be happy to because I absolutely love it!

Here’s a picture of it on me with no filter, no adjustments, just the photo itself (indoor lighting):
