Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette | Review & Swatches

Hey! I’m taking a little break from the Beginner’s Series (Don’t worry, Contour & Highlight 101 will be up shortly!) to review this beautiful palette. *heart eyes*

I got this for Christmas and I’ve certainly put it to use since then. I know this isn’t a brand new palette or anything, but I know there are always people out there wondering which Naked palette to get, or which palette to get next and if you haven’t tested this out, hopefully it will be helpful to you!

So, without further ado, let’s get started!

This is what the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette looks like:

It retails for $54, and holds twelve shadows in a tin-like feeling case. There are shimmer shadows and bronze shhadows alike, all with amazing color payoff, like Urban Decay is normally known for. It also comes with a Good Karma Shadow/Crease brush.

Here are the shadows:

Foxy: pale yellow beige (matte)
Half Baked: coppery brown with golden sheen (shimmer)
Booty Call: peach-tinted white/beige (frost)
Chopper: medium orange-red toned brown with coppery flecks (shimmer)
Tease: mauve-brown (matte)
Snakebite: dark bronze with dirty golden sheen (shimmer)
Suspect: champagne bronze with frosted, metallic sheen (frost)
Pistol: dirty gray-brown (frost)
Verve: pale beige-gray with pink tinge (shimmer)
YDK: coppery red-toned medium brown (frost)
Busted: burgundy, deep brown (frost)
Blackout: deep black (matte)

All in all, I think this palette has an amazing value. It’s $200 worth of eyeshadow, $24 worth of brush and the pigmentation is phenomenal. You can’t really ever go wrong with Urban Decay shadows. You can wet the brush and apply to the lid for an even more intense shadow, or apply it dry and still receive an amazing amount of color payoff. Ugh. Either way you play with it, you get amazing shadows.

Compared to the original Naked palette which I also own and adore, these shadows are much more cool-toned, and lighter in shade. There are lots of soft, champagne based shades while the Naked palette has lots of cool toned brown/bronze shades. I honestly wasn’t sure how that would play out what with my warm NW25 skin tone, and cool tones not really bringing out much color, but I’d say the colors are chosen so fantastically and work together so well, that I don’t have much to complain about.

There are, though, just a few things I would personally tweak. I didn’t like that they had a repeat of the Naked palette’s Half Baked- which, don’t get me wrong, is a beautiful gold shade, but if somebody is a palette collector and wants a brand new palette, they would normally expect all brand new shades. I would also want some more matte shades and crease shades. I constantly use Busted mixed with Blackout to put in the crease, but I find myself having to reach for other palettes for a transition shade and dark crease shades. I am not too fond of putting shimmery shadows in my crease, so I love good solid matte shades.

But other than those teensy downfalls, I believe this is an amazing palette and you really truly get bang for your buck. If you haven’t tried it out, go into Ulta or Sephora and just play around with the shadows, you will fall in love at first swatch!
